The First Meeting of the ASEAN-China Working Group on Supply Chain Connectivity, part of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA) 3.0 Upgrade Negotiations
The First Meeting of the ASEAN-China Working Group on Supply Chain Connectivity, part of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA) 3.0 Upgrade Negotiations, was held on 22-23 April 2024, at the ASEAN Secretariat, Jakarta, Indonesia.
The representatives from ASEAN member states and China attended the meeting physically. The 20 representatives from ASEAN countries attended the meeting via video conferencing. The two representatives from Ministry of Commerce of Myanmar attended the said meeting via video conferencing.
The Meeting discussed the structure of the Chapter on SCC and agreed to first discuss the text and then later decide on the placement of some articles subject to the agreed scope of the Supply Chain Connectivity. The meeting agreed to add article on definitions and requested ASEAN Member states to explore additional terms and definition to be incorporated into this article. The meeting noted that ASEAN Secretariat will provide updates to the Special Joint Committee (SJC) ASEAN Caucus of the 6th Round of the ACFTA Upgrade Negotiations on the progress on the appointment of ASEAN Co-Chair of the WG-SCC and progress on the discussion of the draft text of Chapter on SCC.
