How to apply an Open General License (OGL)

The Open General License (OGL) is issued by the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization of the Ministry of Commerce to the organizing department/organization/organizer on behalf of all exhibitors. The application must be addressed to the Director General of the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization and should be submitted at least one month in advance. Those interested in applying for the General License (OGL) can download the application forms from https://mitc.myantrade.gov.mm. The following documents are required to be submitted when applying for the Open General License (OGL):

( a   Application letter with company letterhead addressing to the Director General of Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization

( b )   Online application

( c )   Certificate of Exporter/ importer registration (Copy)

( d  Invoice of the Import/Export

When applying for the Open General License (OGL), endorsements from the relevant ministries must be submitted for the specific types of materials requiring such endorsements. The list of the certain types of materials needing approval and the corresponding ministries responsible for issuing these approvals are as follows:

Telex fax, Communication equipment including telephones

Shrimp fry and shrimp medicine; feed for fish, Alive Fish and Fishing vessel

Veterinary medicine, animal products, Equipment for animal surgery (including transit trade)

Pesticides

Items imported with the Open General License can be displayed, sold, and distributed as free samples for promotional purposes during the trade fair. After the fair, any remaining items can be re-shipped. It is crucial to specify the intended activities when applying for the open general license. Notably, items intended solely for display purposes cannot be sold.

The service charges for obtaining the Open General License (OGL) for importing or exporting goods to be exhibited at domestic or foreign expositions are as follows:

( a )   Open General License (Inbound) - 50,000 Kyats

( b )   Open General License (Outbound) - 50,000 Kyats

The Open General License (OGL) must be returned to the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization within one month after the end of the trade fair along with the tax clearance records.

The Open General License (OGL) must be returned to the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization within one month following the conclusion of the trade fair, accompanied by the necessary tax clearance records.
