What documents are required to apply for a visa extension?

The visa extension process involves obtaining an endorsement from the department. To apply, visit www.mitcmyantrade.gov.mm and carefully review the Visa Extension Guideline before submission. For further inquiries, feel free to contact us via phone.

How many months can I get on a visa extension?

The duration for a visa extension is determined by the Visa Extension Scrutiny Board upon verifying the completeness of the applicant's required data. The decision is based on the board's evaluation.

How much time should remain on the visa when applying for an extension?

Applicants should apply for a visa extension when the remaining visa validity is between a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of 60 days. It is necessary to ensure that the documents are complete at the time of application, with at least 30 days remaining on the visa.

How many months can I get on a visa extension?

The duration for a visa extension is determined by the Visa Extension Scrutiny Board upon verifying the completeness of the applicant's required data. The decision is based on the board's evaluation.

Can a company involved in hotel and service provision apply for visa extensions for their foreign employees?

Foreigners entering Myanmar with a Business Visa linked to trade can apply for a visa extension endorsement from the Ministry of Commerce to prolong their stay. However, individuals entering with business visas unrelated to trade must seek visa extensions solely through the relevant ministries corresponding to their visa type.

What is the implementation status of the first phase of National Export Strategy (2015-2019) ?

131 trade development projects (69 %) corresponding the each sectors strategy’s activities, including national budget initiatives contributed to the NES (2015-2019) implementation.

Among the selected priority sectors of the NES (2015-2019) implementation which sectors gained significant progress ?

According to the implementation of the projects contributed to the each NES (2015-2019) sectoral plan of actions, particularly in rice, textile and garment, fishery and tourism sectors had significant progress with a surge in exports earnings.

In which regions had mostly been implemented the National Export Strategy (2015-2019) ?

In National Export Strategy (2015-2019), the projects contributed to the sectoral plan of actions were mostly carried out in Yangon, Mandalay, Ayeyarwaddy and Magway regions.

Are there any project that implemented in NES (2015-2019) ?

There are two projects such as Kayah State Tourism Sector Development Project, and Increase Export Revenues in the Oilseeds Sector Value Chain Project in Mandalay, Sagaing, Magway Region were implemented in NES (2015-2019) with the support of International Trade Center (ITC).

How will implement the NES (2020-2025) ?

The projects comprised in NES (2020-2025 ) sectoral plan of actions will be implemented with the national budget, private sector investment, public-private partnership (PPP) and development partners support.

What is the current situation of the NES (2020-2025) Sectors Development Committee ?

In NES (2020-2025), Sector Development Committees (SDC) are fromed led by Director Genearls of concerned departments to coordinate and discuss the situation of export promotion performances by sectors. The SDCs is holding the meetings regularly and updating the members lists, discussing the condition of implemented and implementing activities upon the sectors’ plan of actions.

Are the NES (2020-2025) sectors Plan of Actions consistent with the current situations and does it need any amendments ?

There have been the SDCs Meetings for NES (2020-2025) to ensure the sectors’ Plan of Actions consistent with the current sutuation and amend the activities that need to be updated. 

Are there any projects being implemented under NES (2020-2025) ?

The project on Improving Quality of Rubber and Market Research on Rubber Industry is being implemented in Tanintharyi Region and Mon State from April 2022 to March 2024 with the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2021) for the Rubber Sector development under NES (2020-2025). Moreover, Value Chain upgrading of Potential Fruit (Coconut) in Ayeyarwady Region Project is also being implemented in Ayeyarwaddy Region, linked to Food Processing Sector of NES, from May 2023 to April 2024 with the support of ACMECS-ROK Cooperation Fund.

How to know the implementation process of the NES (2020-2025) ?

The updated implementation process of the NES (2020-2025) is available on Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization’s Website (https://myantrade.gov.mm/).

How can I access updated information about foreign or domestic trade fairs?

Updates on such trade fairs can be acquired through UMFCCI and fraternity associations, as well as by visiting www.myantrade.gov.mm.

Are export/import licenses necessary for items to be exhibited at the expos?

No, a specific export/import license isn't required for temporary export/import items. The goods for the exposition are permissible with an Open General License (OGL).

How do I apply for an Open General License (OGL) for exhibition items?

Companies or associations wishing to exhibit must submit an application to the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization. This application should include a company letterhead, a complete invoice, a packing list of items to be exhibited, and endorsements from relevant ministries/organizations based on the item type.

Who can handles customs clearance and transportation for exhibition items?

Customs clearance and transportation can be managed by the company, agency, or stakeholder involved.

Is there a service charge for obtaining an Open General License (OGL)?

Yes, a service fee of fifty thousand kyat is required for the Open General License (OGL) application.

When should I apply for an OGL for an expo?

It's recommended to apply for the OGL at least one month before the exhibition date.

What is the timeline for import/export of remaining inventory after exhibiting?

Items must be imported/exported within one month after the conclusion of the exhibition.

Is it permitted to participate in other trade fairs without permission obtained through the OGL?

No, participation is restricted to exhibitions permitted by the OGL. Moving or participating in other exhibitions without permission is not allowed.

Can items not intended for display at the trade fair be imported or exported under the trade fair's OGL permit?

The OGL permit is exclusively for the exhibition and cannot be used for the import/export of other items.

How can I apply to participate in trade fairs?

If invited, applications to participate can be made through the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization via relevant departments, associations, organizations, service companies, or www.mitc.myantrade.gov.mm.

Is it necessary to report customs clearance status after the trade fair concludes?

Yes, the organizers (departments, organizations, companies, stakeholders) are required to submit the customs clearance details of exhibitors to the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization.

Must the Open General License (OGL) issued for the exposition be returned?

Yes, the Open General License (OGL) must be returned to the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization after the exhibition concludes.
