Participation in the Workshop on Competitive Neutrality held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Daw Wai Yee Kyaw, Assistant Director of Competition Policy Division, Department of Trade, Ministry of Commerce, attended and participated in discussions at the “Workshop on Competitive Neutrality”, which was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 8^th to 9^th December 2025.

At the workshop, participants discussed the nature of competitive neutrality and why it is important to competition and trade, implementation of competitive neutrality in ASEAN jurisdictions, competitive neutrality and government owned/ related businesses, competitive neutrality and government policies, competitive neutrality in trade agreements: approaches to implementation globally, competitive neutrality in trade agreements: potential impact in individual jurisdictions, competitive neutrality clauses in practice and resources available to assist in implementing competitive neutrality policy.

A total of 37 participants from ASEAN Member States attended the workshop, comprising 29 in-person participants and 8 online participants. Two representatives from Myanmar attended the workshop in person.
