Awareness Workshop on Copyright held

   Awareness workshop on copyright was held in virtual format at the meeting room of the office No.52 of the Ministry of Commerce, Nay Pyi Taw in the morning of September 28, 2023 and the Director General of the Intellectual Property Department delivered an opening speech.

   This workshop was attended by a total number of one hundred and fifty participants including the responsible persons from the Intellectual Property Department, the representatives from the departments under the Ministry of Commerce and the teachers and students from the Universities and College in the Mandalay Region.

   In the Opening Speech, the Director General of the Department of Intellectual Property said that the Intellectual Property Department was planning to hold the awareness workshops in order to effectively implement the Intellectual Property Laws. The first awareness workshop on Copyright was held for the responsible persons from the respective ministries and this workshop was held second time. The Copyright Law was promulgated on 24th May, 2019 and this workshop was held to understand the Copyright law and to follow the provisions of the Law as the Law will be entered into force in October, 2023. And, she said that from this workshop the participants will have the knowledge on the limitations and exceptions without the authorization of the right holder and the infringements on the Intellectual Property Rights.

   And then, the Director of the Copyright Division of the department explained the copyright law and shared knowledge on the Copyright and Related rights. Thereupon, the director clarified and answered the questions raised by the representatives attending in the workshop and then the workshop was concluded.
